The Anglican
Church of
St Andrew Aberfeldie
wanted to support a church by the same name in
drought stricken Victoria
and we in Boort are the recipients of their kindness and
generosity, friendship and prayers.
The first
Anglican Church service was held in the Boort district on October
6th 1850.
Since then there has been continuous Anglican
worship in Boort. This 150 years of history was
celebrated
in October 2000.
November 30th 2008 marks the 50th anniversary of the present building with its
magnificent stained-glass window overlooking the Boort lake. The
foundation stone was laid by Bishop Winter of the St Arnaud Diocese. To
mark the occasion, the interior of the church has been painted afresh and we
have big plans to celebrate on our patronal festival.
Originally part of the
Diocese of Ballarat and then St Arnaud, the church of
St Andrew
in Boort became part
of the Parish of Pyramid Hill/Boort when the St
Arnaud diocese merged with the Diocese of Bendigo in
1976.
